About Once Upon A Prom

Once Upon a Prom (OUAP) was launched in the Fall of 2006 by 3 Washington DC young professionals. Over the past 4 years OUAP has donated hundreds of dresses to girls in the DC area. In 2009 the Once Upon a Prom scholarship fund was created and $40,000 was contributed to the fund. Once Upon a Prom is dedicated to providing young girls with prom dresses, scholarship money and the chance for a brighter future.

Thank you very much for everything, my daughter was able to find a beautiful red gown. This was truly a blessing for us. I have 2 children receiving HS Diplomas and 2 going to prom at the same time - which this is an expensive process but thank God that this is once in a lifetime experience. Thankful that not buying a gown now allows me to have monies to help get her shoes, hair, nails and accessories along with help paying towards a limousine for them. Thank you again.

Just want to commend you all on the good work you are doing. So often young women from poor and working class families are not able to participate in special events because their families cannot afford the clothing or other special purchases. Yet these special events often become our most cherished memories. Unfortunately, I had forgotten how important a prom can be until I dropped off the dress on Saturday and saw the excited faces of the shoppers. Please keep up this good work...
